Best Komodo Yacht Charter
Destinations Beyond Padar Island

By Samara · Komodo Yacht Charter Specialists

Most guests put Padar Island at the top of their Komodo list. And honestly, that makes sense. The view is stunning. However, if you only sail to Padar, you miss some of the most beautiful and surprising komodo yacht charter destinations in Eastern Indonesia.

At Samara, we take you further. We design private yacht itineraries that go well beyond the postcard spots — to places where the water turns green, the bats darken the sky at dusk, and the beaches glow pink underfoot.

In this guide, we share our favorite destinations that every Komodo yacht charter should include.

Why Explore Komodo by Private Yacht

First, let us be clear about something. Komodo National Park covers more than 1,700 square kilometers of sea and land. No single day trip reaches it all. When you charter a private yacht, you move freely between islands, time your arrivals for golden hour, and anchor in bays that tour boats never visit.

That flexibility is exactly what makes a Komodo yacht charter worth it. You set the pace. We handle everything else.

Pink Beach Komodo

A Shore Unlike Any Other

Pink Beach is one of only seven pink beaches in the world. As a result, it draws attention — and for good reason.

The sand gets its color from fragments of red coral mixed with white sand. When the light hits the shoreline in the morning, it glows in a warm blush tone that photographs can barely capture. Most importantly, arriving by private yacht means you reach Pink Beach before the crowd.

We recommend anchoring at Pink Beach early in the morning or late in the afternoon. The light is softer, the water is calmer, and you often have the beach entirely to yourselves. The snorkeling just offshore is equally impressive — you will find hard coral gardens, reef sharks, and colorful reef fish in remarkably clear water.

Siaba Island

The Turtle Sanctuary You Did Not Expect

Siaba Island does not appear on most tourist maps. Nevertheless, it offers one of the best snorkeling and diving experiences in the entire Komodo region.

The seagrass beds around Siaba Island attract green sea turtles in high numbers. If you snorkel here, you will almost certainly swim alongside one. Because this spot sits away from the main charter routes, the turtles remain calm and the reef stays healthy.

Furthermore, the island itself is quiet and forested. You can go ashore, walk along the treeline, and enjoy a beach that feels genuinely remote. Siaba Island works beautifully as a morning stop before sailing south toward the Komodo dragon habitats in the afternoon.

Kalong Island Sunset

The Komodo Sunset You Will Never Forget

Without a doubt, Kalong Island offers the most dramatic sunset moment in all of Komodo.

Every evening at dusk, hundreds of thousands of flying foxes — the largest bats in the world — take flight from Kalong Island in a dark, sweeping cloud. They move in a long ribbon across the sky as the sun drops behind the volcanic ridgeline.

Watching this from the deck of a private yacht, with a drink in hand and the sea glowing orange around you, is a genuinely unforgettable experience. In fact, many of our guests say the Kalong Island sunset is the single moment they remember most from their entire trip. We time our arrival carefully — anchoring about thirty minutes before sunset gives you the best position and the full show.

The Hidden Islands of Komodo

Where Few Yachts Go

Beyond the named highlights, Komodo holds a collection of smaller, rarely-visited islands that most visitors never reach. We call these the hidden islands of Komodo.

These spots include remote bays with vertical coral walls that drop thirty meters, volcanic rock formations that rise from the water in dramatic silhouettes, white sand banks that appear only at low tide, and lagoons where the water shifts from turquoise to deep sapphire depending on the time of day.

Because these areas sit outside the standard day-trip routes, you often anchor in total silence. No other boats. No noise. Just the water, the wind, and the landscape. Our crew knows these spots well — we visit them regularly and update our routes based on seasonal conditions, tidal patterns, and current coral health.

How We Build Your Komodo Yacht Charter Itinerary

Every Samara itinerary starts with a conversation. We ask about your pace, your interests, and how you want to feel at the end of the trip. From there, we combine the destinations above with the right balance of adventure and rest.

We also consider the season carefully.

Dry Season April — October Calmer seas, clearer visibility, ideal for snorkeling and diving
Wet Season November — March Lush landscapes, fewer visitors, spectacular diving conditions

Whatever the timing, we focus on one thing: making sure you see the best of Komodo at the right pace.
